Summer will be here before you know it, and with the warmer weather and longer days comes a natural inclination to explore the world around us. For our money, there's no better option for such explorations than a member of the Subaru family, whether you're looking for a sporty option such as the BRZ and WRX to take on winding country drives, or a Subaru -- like the Outback -- that's easy to take on a camping trip.

When you slide behind the wheel of either a Subaru WRX or a Subaru BRZ, you know that you're in for a zippy, festive ride. In fact, the odds are good that you'll enjoy driving one of these models so much, you'll find yourself taking back roads on day trips to enjoy lunch and shopping in New Haven or New London, or even taking off for a long weekend in either Boston or New York City. After all, there's nothing quite like the feeling of cruising down the road with a responsive engine at your command and the windows down!

Of course, we're also big fans of all of the Subaru models that feature standard Subaru Symmetrical All-Wheel Drive, including the Legacy and Impreza sedans. If you're looking at taking a long family road trip, these offer the ideal combination of practicality, efficiency, and fun -- along with the knowledge that you have more assured control on the road in the event of a sudden summer storm.

Last, but certainly not least, are the models best suited to truly taking on all that summer has to offer: the Subaru Outback, Forester, and Crosstrek SUVs. Not only do they come with the commanding Symmetrical All-Wheel drive that you need and want when taking on adventures, but they also can perform double-duty as another option when you decide to camp for the night.

In fact, there are all sorts of reasons to choose to camp in, around or on your Subaru as opposed to dealing with the hassle of setting up and taking down a tent. First, you're able to drive your Subaru right up to your campsite, while other vehicles might not be able to make the trek. Then, once you've unloaded all of your gear -- such as portable chairs, a grill, and your cooler -- it's easy to push the front seats forward, lay down the rear seats, and take advantage of the cargo space to serve as your home away from home. Make things even cozier by laying down sleeping bags or an air mattress that matches the width of your Subaru; don't forget to include pillows and a blanket for the ultimate ease.

It's also worth pointing out that your Subaru is significantly more secure than a tent can ever hope to be. Not only are you replacing nylon and mesh with a steel frame and a shatterproof windshield. Whether you need to be concerned with wild animals or strangers, that's quite reassuring. Plus, you can lock everything in the Subaru while you spend the day on the water or hiking -- keeping your possessions safer and dryer than a tent can manage.
